The Society invites all to become members of this Shamanic Community. A link to the registration form is provided at the end of this page.

General Membership is open to anyone who is interested in Shamanic Tradition and connection. Members declare an intention to appreciate and support the work and public celebrations and gatherings of The Sacred Circle of the Great Mystery Society and to foster its aims and mission.

Apprentice membership are those who are apprenticed to a Shaman and are training towards initiation into The Tradition

Student membership are those who are training in Shamanic Practice and may at a later date seek initiation.

Initiand membership is a transitory membership for those who have completed training and/or apprenticeship and are awaiting or preparing for final Initiation into The Tradition.

Practitioner membership are members who work in a Shamanic way and/or integrate Shamanic tradition into their work or healing practices

Registered membership is reserved for all who have completed training or apprenticeship and agree to abide and aspire to the Requirements of Initiates criteria of The Society. These members will be recorded on a directory of Registered Initiates

Ordained membership is reserved for Registered Initiates who have chosen to seek ordination as Shamanic ‘clergy’. Ordained Clergy will be entitled to have the letters OISCGM after their name and bear the title ‘Reverend Shaman’. They will be principal agents for the aims and mission of The Society and its ministerial work and officiate at public ceremony

The Society also holds affiliated membership which is offered to any individual or groups that share the aims and mission of the The Sacred Circle of the Great Mystery Society, and which the Society holds with esteem or who would bring greater spiritual teaching or depth to the Society.

List of Registered & Ordained Practitioners

1. To understand, appreciate and be skilled in working in all spiritual realms. This includes realms beyond what is recognized as Middle world, but an understanding of safely working in the Middle world is essential as well.

2.To be skilled in the ability to perform shamanic diagnosis/divination

3. To have received training in guardian spirit retrieval.

4. To have received training in shamanic extraction methods.

5. have received training in shamanic retrieval of fractured, separated, exiled and lost souls, both indwelling and outdwelling

6. To have experienced spiritual dismemberment and re-memberment.

7. To be trained and appreciate voluntary spirit possession/embodiment by tutelary spirits for purposes of performing healing work.

8. To have received training in de-possession and ‘exorcism’ healing

9. To have received training in psycho-pomp and soul ushering

10. To have received training in working with the Lamenter whose spirits you are attending and healing. This includes treating this person uniquely    with respect and reverence, respecting their personal spiritual journeys, creating a safe and sacred space, keeping clear personal/professional boundaries, ensuring good communication skills including the use of non-judgemental language, and honouring this person's    present reality.

11. To be able to develop treatment and follow-up plans/strategies and to be able to discern pre-Psychological intervention and medications.

12. To be able to appropriately and safely, create, hold and close sacred space.

13. To have understood the sanctity of sacramental ceremony across diverse cultures

14. To have ‘battled’ with personal internal darkness and light.

15. To appreciate and be able to offer guidance for effective interdisciplinary coordination.

16.  To maintain and hold sacred the confidentiality of clients

17. To be professionally accountable through regular personal Shamanic Intervention by an appropriately trained Shamanic Practitioner.

18. To pursue and maintain personal, spiritual and professional development.

ETHICAL GUIDLINES

All Initiates and Ordained are guided and held by the Laws, Principles and Byelaws of The Sacred Circle of the Great Mystery Society and are accountable to the following requirements:
